I'm awaiting the arrival via the 5:30 ferry of my friend Sue from Portland, who is coming up to share the Pete Seeger weekend with me. For more information about the concert, you can click on this article at the South Whidbey Record.
Wish us luck tomorrow night. The dress rehearsal last night wasn't bad but we are banking on enthusiasm and a great deal of camaraderie getting us through!

Oh, good luck on the show! I'm sure it will be fabulous. And we're all so glad to hear that you're healing fast.
I hope the show goes well. One thing about Pete Seeger not enough people know: Around the year 1959 Seeger visited the Highlander School in Tennessee at the same time Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was visiting. It was at that meeting that Seeger first introduced King to the song "We Shall Overcome." Seeger acknowledges this in a biographical sketch that appeared on Public Television about a year ago. You can see a photo of Seeger with King on the Highlander School's web site.
Thanks, folks. SUe arrived right on time last night and we've had some good time together. Looking forward to the concert and all it brings, I am so grateful to be feeling pretty well and seeing better and better.
Anon, I have now done a lot of reading about Pete and learned that bit about "Overcome". I think most people think it came out of the civil rights movement and, of course, it did in a way, but in another way, the song belongs to everyone.
