Has Maxie Reformed?

Amazingly, when I got home today from the AGM and went into my bedroom, I found that nobody (aka Maxwelton) had peed on the bed or torn up kleenex or ripped off Loosy's ear or done anything bad that I could discover. Of course, he headed for tall timber once I let him out the door and I may not see him again till morning, but I don't have to clean up any messes!

My friend Donna thinks maybe he has reformed!

You know about Schrödinger's cat, right? Well, Max either had or had not done... something. But until you observed, well.... In this case, reality collapsed on the side of improbability.

Never let a cat get you to lower your guard.

So nice to come home to a pee-free house! ;-) I hope this is the beginning of good things!

My experience of youngest children is that it is much more likely that he is sick and simply lacked energy to do any of the above.

I am so sorry to let you all down this morning. As I got ready to go to bed last night, I unfolded one of the wool throws that had been carefully placed on the bed and found a reeking wet spot. The throw looked pristine at a glance but when I unfolded it, the evidence was clear. But it is the same throw he had peed on last time; that may mean something. So, Ogre, my guard is still up! But he's not sick, as far as I can tell, as he bounded ahead of me this morning on our way down to get the paper.

Have you tried the "piddle pads" normally used to train dogs? We have a feral rescue who simply will not use a sandbox, but is perfectly willing to use piddle pads. Unfortunately, she can't grasp the difference between a piddlepad and a bath mat or throw rug, but...

Thanks for your thoughts, Joel. Actually the only time he pees on the bed is when I leave for a night or two away from home. It seems to be a reaction to my extended absence when he can't go outsdie. So my best strategy is simply to protect the bed. This particular throw may still retain some of the scent of the last incident, though I washed it well after the last time. I will wash it with baking soda this time. But I am resigned to never letting my guard down, as Ogre suggests.

By the way, Ogre, we talked about you with one of your readers at our blogging workshop on Saturday. I can't remember her name---maybe it was Judy. It was all good.

I agree with Ogre: don't let down your guard with kittehs. My Davey is a prime example. He's so sweet and loving atop the printer right now, but if he stays in tomorrow for even one minute last sunrise, a-peeing he will go. >^..^<

Oh, and thanks also for the "heads-up," Ms. K. :-) I was actually about to contact you about that...
