Ah, Solitude!

The past several weeks have been so full of visits, GA, and visitors that I have had blessed little solitude. I have only blogged once in the past week and that, you'll recall, was about being with people and in idleness. I'm not complaining, far from it, because I've enjoyed all the time spent since June 15, which was when I went to Reno for my son's wedding. But hot on the heels of that came General Assembly for several days, a Fourth of July visit to Moses Lake for most of six days, and coming home at the end of that time with my sister and her husband in tow. Company, company, company-----either hosting it or being it.

My Myers-Briggs type is ENFJ and sometimes, like now, I question the E. I do love being with people; I get energy from being with them, and yet there's a threshhold in there somewhere that I cross and find myself frantic for some extended time alone, doing things MY way, not somebody else's. It's probably one reason I've never remarried. I'm almost never lonely, even when I've been alone for quite awhile. My own company isn't exactly scintillating, but it's not bad and I can always go find someone to spend time with.

My sister and her husband have just gone down the long driveway toward home and I am alone with the cats, the trees, the birds, and the laundry, and I am content.

More later, perhaps.

I just put up a post about Myers-Briggs, too.

Great minds, I guess.

I often test as an ENFJ too...I think the E is a bit of an overstatement. :) Welcome back!

People have said to me "I bet you are "WXYZ" on a Myers-Briggs (sp.?); I've never had the test. I felt pretty much akin to CC's rating, but could use more J.
So could she.
You are definitely a home body, like a hobbit. But one who has to get out and do in a couple of orcs every now and then.

LF was in SO much trouble the time he compared me to a Hobbit. I suggest you guive him what for.

CC
who does indeed suspect that LF is an INTP like herself and agrees we could both used more J. Luckily, theCSO is J enough for us and several more.

PS. When we talked on the phone, I meant to tell you that when I was a freshman in college, I lived and breathed the Enneagram for a semester or so and was typing everyone I knew.

Actually, I am a homebody, and it's too hot to make much a fuss about hobbitness. Though I would turn down any opportunity to take anything anywhere, especially to a pit of fire.

At the time it bothered me, but I wasn't sure why. (I'm not a Tolkein fan and I don't actually know much about hobbits, I just knew that I felt strongly that I wasn't one.) I talked to Katy-the-Wise about it and she pointed out that the Hobbits in LOTR were really exceptional, imaginative Hobbits and that the average hobbit just sort of hung around their little village.

Also, they have hairy toes. I do NOT have hairy toes.

And girl hobbits are not as cute as we are, either. But I did like the line about slaying orcs.

Don't fret, Kit. I'm an ENTJ, but nothing makes me feel better than sitting alone all Saturday morning at a coffee shop and reading...alone. Even we outgoing people need time to recharge. We may be E's, but we're all human.
